All Baptized Christians who have died and are now with God in glory are considered saints. All Saints Day is intended to honor the memory of countless unknown and uncanonized saints who have no feast days.
Today we thank God for giving ordinary men and women (and boys and girls) a share in His holiness and heavenly glory as a reward for their faith. This feast is an invitation to honor the saints, both by imitating their lives and by seeking their intercession for us before Christ, the only mediator between God and us (I Timothy 2, 5).
The Church reminds us today that God’s call for holiness is universal, and that all of us are called to live in His love and to make His love real in the lives of those around us. Holiness is related to the words wholeness and wholesomeness. We grow in holiness when we live whole and wholesome lives of integrity truth, justice, charity, mercy, and compassion, sharing our blessings with others. Saints of God, come to our aid!

En la celebración de Todos los Santos nos preguntamos: ¿Qué idea tenemos de los santos? ¿Son para nosotros como soñadores idealistas, fuera de todo contacto con el mundo y con la gente, pasivos y tristones como sus estatuas de escayola? La liturgia de hoy nos cuenta una historia diferente.
Los Santos son gente ordinaria como nosotros, con la misma carne y sangre que nosotros. Pero tuvieron la valentía de ser diferentes, de hacer las cosas ordinarias de la vida a la manera extraordinaria de Cristo, de quien toman su valor. Ellos nos inspiran con su serena, pero fuerte amabilidad, su integridad, y su entrega a Dios y a sus hermanos, trabajando por la justicia, la verdad, y la paz. Pidámosle al Señor, hoy, la fuerza para seguirle a Él como ellos lo hicieron.
Oremos. “Oh Dios bondadoso, por medio de los santos nos inspiras con nuevas esperanzas en el futuro del mundo y de la gente. Que nos percatemos, Señor, de que, con tu fuerza, hasta nuestros sueños más atrevidos pueden hacerse realidad, e incluso pueden ser superados: que la justicia, la paz, y el amor sean valores por los que valga la pena vivir y morir, y que, un día, tú corones tu propio trabajo en nosotros, por Jesucristo nuestro Señor. Amén.”
