April 20: Praying for Peace

As the nation and our own city continue to experience powerful challenges to peace and justice, let us not forget that this Easter season puts before us the Prince of Peace, the Risen Lord. It is during times such as these that we need to “lean-in” to our faith even more, and ask the Lord to help us recognize the shared humanity of all of our sisters and brothers. So, we make an honest and heart-felt plea to the Prince of Peace to penetrate our minds and hearts. It is only by seeing Him in each other that we will honor the dignity of each person and arrive at true peace and justice in our world, in our country, in our city, and in our families.

“Lord God, our source of unity and love, make us one in heart and mind. Under your protection, keep us secure in your peace. Help us to seek you, especially now, with patience, kindness, and gentleness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
