February 28: Lent Draws Near

With crocuses and daffodils appearing outside, with primroses and daphne “showing their faces” (so to speak), this is a perfect time for us to grow in faith. It is a perfect time to check whether Jesus’ teachings are “taking root” in our hearts.

Let us remember that “goodness” and “faithfulness” do not blossom without help. We need to cultivate them and make them grow in the depths of our hearts. May God’s abundant grace, His Word and Sacrament, and our Lenten discipline help us grow in God’s love

In times of trouble, we call upon the tender mercy of God – to guide our feet into the way of peace. May our prayers, joined with those of our Holy Father Francis, with those of the people of Ukraine, and those of people around the world, help guide those waging war to end the madness and the meaningless suffering. May God quickly restore “lasting peace.”

St. Joseph, pray for us.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.

St. Claire, pray for us.

Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us.

All you saints and angels of the Lord, pray for us. Amen.
