A Prayer for Good Shepherd Sunday: “O God, you never cease to call your people, even those far away, for it is your will that all be drawn into one fold. Attune our ears to the voice of your Son, the Good Shepherd, who leads us always to you, so that we may find under your tender protection life in all its fullness. We ask this through Christ our Lord.”
According to the Gospels, in order to enter into eternal life we must listen to the Good Shepherd and obey Him. He is forever inviting us to attune our minds and hearts to the sound of His voice. We know, however, that self-centeredness can make us deaf to His voice. Easy options can draw us into what seem like easier paths. Pressure to abandon Christian principles is inevitable, but God is faithful and will not let us be tempted beyond our strength. No one can drag us away from Him without our consent, so it is supremely important to remember that the Father has entrusted us to His Son. The same God who kept faith with Jesus by raising Him from the dead will also raise us by His power and lead us into “life in all its fullness.”
