December 21: Virtuous Habits

One recent morning, on Portland’s Classical Music radio station, the host said, “That last piece was composed by Beethoven. Our next piece is by Felix Mendelssohn. However, before that, here is the weather report: snow and freezing rain are heading our way; temperatures will be down into the teens and not much above 20 all day tomorrow. We cannot really control that. What we can control is this: our internal temperature. So, stay warm in your disposition toward others. Be the warm, loving person you know you can be.”

Has Advent taught us anything about our “internal temperature?” Have we established good, virtuous habits toward our neighbors? Will the final days of this holy season find us strengthening those habits all the more?
