January 25: Adoration / Adoración

In the Second Book of Samuel (chapter 6), the Ark of the Covenant was placed in Jerusalem, in a special tent prepared for it. David, as King, offered sacrifices and peace offerings and then blessed the people in the name of God. The Ark was a symbol of the presence of God among His people. It was, to some extent, seen as a “real” presence and, in that sense, could be seen as a forerunner of our church tabernacles.

We are not in Jerusalem, nor are we living in King David’s time, but let us use every opportunity to spend some time before the special presence of Jesus in our church tabernacle (the word really means “tent”). At the same time, let us deepen our awareness of God’s very real presence in every single person, thing, and event of our lives, a presence of which the Eucharist is the Sacrament and sign.

Join us for Adoration on Thursdays. Our prayer begins at the morning Mass (8:30am) and continues throughout the day until the final blessing at 8:30pm. Come and spend a few minutes … or make a commitment to spend an hour in prayerful Adoration.

***

+Santa (Madre) Teresa
