Have you given any thought to Lent 2024? Are you thinking “it’s not Lent yet?” Are you also thinking “Ash Wednesday is a whole week away, there’s plenty of time?” But how many of us always wait until the last minute, get busy, and then … well, don’t we all know what the rest of that story is?
Helpful hints: What changes in your life do you most need and want to make this Lent? What “house cleaning” do you need to do in your mind and heart to make room for those changes? It is not too early to start thinking about these things. Lent will be here before we know it!
Let us pray. “O God, may your light guide our days leading up to Lent. May your spirit bring us peace. May the Lenten sacrifices which you will ask of us remind us of our dependence on you. Prepare us to stand in solidarity with all our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. May we be united in your love and may we work to build your Kingdom here on earth. Through Christ our Lord.”
