There are various themes to explore as Advent begins. There are various voices from the Scriptures that will call us to confess our sins and hope for better days. Some others will warn us against complacency, for the end is coming sooner than we expect. Still others will remind us about being prepared for the day of the Lord. In the end, Advent invites a reassessment of where our ways are leading us and how we might more actively seek the Lord’s way.
Advent is the Church’s annual reminder that the world as we know it will one day end, but also that there is abundant hope to be had, and we can look forward to when a new day will dawn, when Christ will come again into our lives with power to save us. This is a time to open our hearts and invite the Lord to bring us to completion. We have begun Advent yearning for His coming … let us now pray for His grace to accompany us on the journey.

Este tiempo de Adviento, en que nos preparamos para la Navidad (para la conmemoración del misterio de la Encarnación del Hijo de Dios), debe llevarnos a prepararnos también, no sólo para su segunda venida al final de los tiempos, sino para recibirlo en cada momento de nuestra vida.
El Adviento es un tiempo de gracia que debe ayudarnos a ser testigos cada vez más generosos del amor de Dios y mensajeros de su esperanza: “Padre, concédenos anhelar de tal manera la llegada de tu Hijo, que cuando llames a nuestra puerta, nos encuentres velando en oración, cantando sus alabanzas, y sirviendo a los demás. Te lo pedimos por Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.”
