Middle School (Grades 6-8):

This year we will be dressing down for PE. My hopes are that by having a separate set of gym clothes you will be more comfortably suited for the activities and events I have planned for the year. Being prepared for class means having and changing into these designated gym clothes and it will become a part of your final grade so they will be needed.

Guidelines for gym clothes include:

  • Athletic shorts or pants must be worn - (Note: leggings, spandex, and yoga pants are acceptable if appropriate shorts are worn over them.) Shorts must be no more than three inches above the knee, and neither shorts nor pants will include snaps, buttons or zippers.
  • Gym shirts must be worn - These can be plain T-shirts! (Note: sleeves will be required) These shirts can contain some graphics however they must be school appropriate. There is to be absolutely no "crop tops", belly shirts, or low cut (scoop neck) shirts. Shoulders and waists must be covered. Sports bras for young ladies are allowed however, they must not be visible.
  • Gym shoes must be worn - this is a separate pair of non-marking soles designated specifically for the purpose of PE activities in the gym.
  • Deodorant is highly recommended - This is a part of keeping your bodies happy and healthy. Whether you think you need it or not middle school is a time for growing bodies to change and sweat will occur. Please also know that body sprays do not count as deodorant. "To prevent the stink please remember to think: did I use my deodorant?"

NOTE: Regular school guidelines still apply and will be enforced. If you are unsure of what the school guidelines may be please see the link below: Uniform Guideline Policy

You will bring a drawstring backpack to put your clothes in. These clothes will be transported from your classroom to the gym with you for PE. Once you have entered the gym for class, you will be given 3-4 minutes to head into the restroom and quickly change and meet back out on the court. There have been hooks, benches, and shelves installed in the gym bathrooms in which you may store your things during class. These Gym Clothes should be taken home on Fridays to be washed and brought back to school by Monday each week.

Note for ALL GRADES:

Please know that this is a classroom not a recess. Also, remember the focus of the year is fitness and fun! In PE you will need both in order to be successful! Do your best, be prepared and you will succeed!🙂
