Sunday

In today’s Gospel, Lord, you ask, “Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge…”

You know, you’re familiar with, every single detail of our lives, Lord. You notice things about us and our lives that totally escape our own attention! And you hold everything about us in your mind and heart. You know and you hold close all our joys and sorrows, our ups and downs, our hopes and dreams, and our regrets and disappointments.

At the end of each day, you scoop up in your arms everything we did and all the things we meant to do, but didn’t get around to. You delight in our good works, Lord, and you pledge your grace to help us do even better the next day. You see the whole of our lives in progress and you coach our efforts to reach our goals and draw ever closer to you. Things we see as failures, Lord, are in your view steps on our way to victory. In your eyes, Lord, our lives are worth more than many, many sparrows: help us never forget that this is how you love us. We praise and thank you now and forever. Amen.
