November Scripture Reflection

Scripture Reflection Gathering

November 2nd at 9 am in the Parish Center (old convent)

You are invited to reflect on the Sunday readings for November with your community. All are welcome. Whether or not you are able to prepare, you can always gain insight and share the insights from the readings that have touched your heart. Taking time to reflect on Scripture helps us on our journey to God. Our next gathering will be Saturday November 2nd at 9 am in the Parish Center (the old convent).

To Prepare for the November Meeting: Please read the Sunday readings for the Month of November. (See below.) In the Lectionary during Ordinary Time, the First Reading, Psalm, and Gospel usually all have a similar message. In the Second Reading, we read through large parts of a specific book, Sunday after Sunday. In November we will have excerpts from Paul’s Second Letter to the Thessalonians–except for the last Sunday in November, which is the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. On that special Sunday we have a reading from Paul’s Letter to the Colossians. In your preparation you could choose to focus on the First Reading, Psalm, and Gospel, or instead focus on the Second Reading. As you read, allow the Scripture to speak to your heart. Jot down any insights, making note of the specific words you find especially helpful.

The Readings are:

November 3rd First Reading: Wisdom 11:22–12:2; Psalm 145:1-2, 8-9, 10-11, 13, 14; Gospel Luke 19:1-10
