As we draw closer and closer to the end of the Church’s liturgical year, there is a growing emphasis given to taking responsibility for our actions, examining where we are spiritually, and facing our mortality. The Church reminds us with growing frequency that the end of history itself will open up a new beginning for the human family. With the coming season of Advent and the Feast of the Savior’s birth, we are offered a new lease of life.
For reflection: All that truly lasts is what God achieves in our lives. His is a “kingdom that shall never be destroyed.” But we may have to pass through many difficulties before eventually “all will be well,” when the Son of Man comes in glory. May He bless us with a spirit of perseverance so that we might live as a people of hope.
