January 15: The Day of the Lord

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” St. (Mother) Theresa of Calcutta

When St. John the Baptist pointed to Jesus and proclaimed, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1, 29-34), he offered us an important example, an example to be followed. We, too, are to point to the Lord (who is our Savior and Redeemer) and proclaim to the whole world that there is no one else worth following!

Yet, how often are we busy and distracted or stuck in the past or worried about tomorrow? How often do we miss how He is moving in our lives, what He is doing in our lives, and how He is acting in our lives? Nonetheless, He sustains us, guides us, and draws us to trust in Him.

Christ’s love springs forth for us … and so, we pray that He will open our minds, our eyes and our ears; that He will open our hearts lest we miss again how powerfully He is with us, in the moment at hand, today!

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad.
