Hemos venido peregrinando a lo largo de estas semanas de Adviento, en la espera del nacimiento del Salvador, y nuestra espera ha llegado a su fin: nuestro Salvador ha nacido y la fiesta de la Navidad nos llena de alegría, porque “con la encarnación del Verbo, el Creador ha sellado con nosotros un pacto de alianza eterna.”
Pero es preciso que, todos y cada uno de nosotros, encontremos el sentido profundo de esta fiesta en nuestras vidas. Que la palabra de Dios que escucharemos y la Eucaristía que celebraremos, nos ayuden a acoger la venida del Señor en lo profundo de nuestro corazón.
La Navidad no es un simple hecho histórico, sino algo que se prolonga hasta el final de la historia, signo de nuestro misterioso renacer a la vida divina; y este nacimiento nos hace personas nuevas, que debemos sentir, pensar, amar, y obrar de manera nueva. Dios viene hasta nosotros – pequeño y en un pesebre – para que comprendamos que, en la pequeñez, está el camino y la puerta para llegar y encontrarse con Él.

We have been on the journey of Advent together, waiting patiently for the birth of our Savior. Our waiting now comes to an end! The Messiah is born and the grand festivities of His Nativity now fill us with great joy! “The Word is made flesh” and God our Creator has sealed a new and everlasting covenant with us, His people, through His newborn Son.
It will be crucially important for us to live the Christmas “season,” not being content to celebrate these great events and our salvation for just one day. May the Word which we will listen to at Mass and the Eucharist we will celebrate help us accept with open arms the coming of the Lord in the deepest part of our hearts.
Christmas is not just a historical event, but something that extends through all of history itself, the sign of our mysterious rebirth thanks to God’s Divine intervention. May the grace of this Christmas make us a new people, and remind us that we must respond to God’s goodness by thinking, acting, and loving in a new way. God has come to us – tiny, vulnerable, and in a manger – so that we might come to understand that, in the vulnerability of our own lives, we will encounter the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
