A Prayer for the Sixth Sunday of Easter

A prayer inspired by 1 Peter 3,15: “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope.”

Lord Jesus, help us hope for light when we are totally in the dark…

Help us hope for serenity in the midst of our distress…

Help us hope for tomorrow when we are locked in our past…

or when, maybe, we just forgot what day it is today…

Lord Jesus, help us hope for joy when sadness consumes us…

Help us hope for understanding when we are most lost in confusion…

Lord Jesus, help us hope for love when we feel we are most alone…

Help us hope for help when we fear there is none…

Lord Jesus, help us hope for strength when we are at our weakest…

Help us hope for hope when it seems we are at a dead end…

And when we feel most hope-less, help us hope in you, Lord:

help us find our only hope in you…

If we are ever ready to give up, Lord, help us go to the well one more time

where you will satisfy our thirst, strengthen us,

provide us with the grace we need, and restore our hope! Amen.
