An essential source of school funding is the merchandise scrip program, which is managed by the Parents’ Club. Participation in the scrip program is required for all families. Scrip is a term for gift cards and gift certificates, and is tendered just like cash. The Parents’ Club purchases scrip at a discount, and sells them at face value. The difference between the discounted purchase rate and the face value provides funding for school programs. Each family is required to purchase an average of $200 worth of scrip each month, the equivalent of $2000 per school year. You may “opt out” for $100, the average amount that Holy Cross Catholic School would earn from your scrip purchases. Friends and relatives may also purchase scrip through Holy Cross to help meet your goal.
