Choir

The Holy Cross Catholic Middle School Choir is an auditioned singing ensemble that is comprised of thirty-two fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders and conducted by Lucy Yandle. The choir sings pieces in two, three, and four part harmonies by composers from Mozart to modern composers like Francisco Nunez and Vijay Singh. The choir learns these pieces using Music Theory techniques taught in music classes. The Holy Cross School Choir aims to use their voices to give back to the North Portland community. We have sung the National Anthem at University of Portland sporting events, given concerts at local retirement homes, and shared our songs at hospitals. This Spring season, we look forward to concerts at the University of Portland Basketball Games, Good Samaritan Hospital and Oak's Park.

This year, we are excited to add the Holy Cross Catholic School Children's Choir, comprised of forty first, second, third, and fourth graders. This choir aims to enrich the learning happening in the music classroom, as well as expose its young musicians to new types of music. The singers in this ensemble will sing compositions in unison and two part harmony. They will perform at the Holy Cross Christmas program and collaborate with the Middle School Choir on various concerts throughout the city.

Our Middle School Choir rehearsal schedule for the Spring is:

Tuesday mornings from 7:25 a.m. to 8:10 a.m.

Wednesdays from 11:45 p.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Fridays from 9:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Our Children's Choir rehearsal schedule for the Spring is:

Tuesdays from 9:45 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.

Fridays from 2:10 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.
